This author wrote one of my most beloved & reread books from my tween years: The Year of Secret Assignments. It’s one of the only books to ever reliably make me laugh at multiple parts.

So glad I discovered this for-adults book that is, so far, again reliably making me laugh.

“Of course I knew there were innumerable things in this world incomparably much harder and more terrible than what I was going through right then. But just for that moment, I wanted permission to crank my unhappiness gauge to the max. I’d dial it back down, I promised to dial it back down right away. By the day after tomorrow at the latest.”

One of the most relatable paragraphs I’ve read in a while.

An alternate title based on what I’ve read so far could be: Nice Guy Learns Not to Be So Nice Guy-ish

Or: Wow, I Wish I Lived On the Coast
