Time to get on the Cormac McCarthy train!

I’m quite perplexed so far at the people I know who have rated this so low. Maybe the next 60 pages are going to dull me but I have highlighted so much beautiful language to describe the human condition in its raw state without the impossible media standard

To prove I’m a slow reader, it took me 17hours to read that- arguably a 3 hour read

For context, it takes me nearly 6 times longer than the average person to read a book

The audiobook is 16hours 30 minutes which makes me believe that I read differently to other people and maybe I need to look into that more

This book, is a great introduction into UK wildlife; I’m not finish but I will be rereading at some point and digging deeper

Myxomatosis being created in Australia to control the rabbit population, then it being purposefully taken to France and then by “accident”, it makes its way to the UK and wipes out 95% of rabbits. Was not aware of this at all.

Human intervention in nature order is abhorrent

I need to stop milking this book and finish it already but just encountered a brilliant hot take about how some friendships are so long dead before the other people realise, because they don’t understand they’re treating others with absolute minimal effort because deep down, they have embarrassed them and they hold that against them and probably will for their entire life. Irrepairable embarrassment

Have I had time for reading lately. Absolutely. Have I read a single thing? Absolutely not. What have I done instead? Slept.

Anyway, this is about the horny chess player (22yo?) who fails to recognise his need for a therapist, to learn some soft skills or to actually have open dialogue with his brother and his girlfriend (36yo?)who craves validation, feels entirely seen and youthful but shackled by his braces

Up to chapter 3: Trespassing Botanists and Fern Maniacs - great title for a chapter

Well done Britain, also 85% of the worlds chalk streams are in Britain.

It always feels like her characters float off the page in the most awkward way

Okay so I’m really staggering this one as I could read it in one night but then it’s gone

Well this has been an absolute joy, shocked at how much the basque people have participated in world history

Book of Mist: we finally had some raunchy chapters between 40-50

Strong start, if taken out of context, a very interesting story if this was the first Narnia book you read and would arguably make a phenomenal stand alone movie even with the intro alone

Better but still not totally my thing

One chapter at a time and I’m nearly there. One more to go
