Vivaldi's Manchester Sonata is lovely and nicely written about without overdoing it. Wonderful to listen to it whilst reading the passage.

"Wine. Without life, wine isn't worth living." - this resonated a lot and now I am concerned. Good line though.

A very interesting use of what I can now see is a building motif which subverted assumption.

I don't know enough about music to comprehend fully if the arrangement of this book is structured musically - Sonata and Allegro &c.

Only several pages in and I think we're beyond the sniff test of detecting anything...funky.

"He preferred the silence of two people to that of himself alone." - This book has hit me with a lot of intensity at certain moments emotionally and it's done it again in a simple moment with a short end of paragraph sentence.

Sillitoe has a wonderful ability to capture a moment and reduce it down with his economy of words.
