I'm hating this book so much. I should have DNFed long ago but I'm too far in now, I have to finish it.......

This absolutely lives up to the hype

Usually when a nonfiction book isn't doing it for me I can at least console myself that I'm ostensibly learning something, but the knowledge that Larson is unabashedly making half this stuff up makes it feel like uh. A complete exercise in futility

Rereading this in preparation for teaching it is exhilarating it's gonna take everything I've got not to go full Pepe Sylvia with my undergrads

This book is SO goofy masquerading as SO serious, I might have actually enjoyed it if they leaned into the stupid hijinks of it all

The worst part about this is that the ebook version I'm reading is actually like 718 pages so I just realized I actually have a lot more of this book left than I thought

If I didn't have to finish this damn thing for a book club I would have set it aside and never thought about it again many many pages ago

oh boy...
