I’ve read the rest of the Witcher series and didn’t particularly like them, and this new prequel isn’t really changing my mind. The only reason I own and am reading this is because it was forced on me by a subscription (The Broken Binding’s new SF&F sub).

It’s reminding me of Marie Lu’s Legend and Kate Dylan’s Mindwalker

I think I am liking this better now than on first reading. No idea why.

Rereading so I can read the eARC of book 2

At the age of 35, I am reading my first locally published book that isn’t for school.

Pains me to say it, but this is a filler installment. Nothing is really happening.

It’s a third through the book and I feel like nothing has happened.

I’m really unsure about this. It’s mostly just vibes. I keep waiting for something to happen.

Spectacular. I’m pretty sure I’ve read Sixth of the Dusk from Arcanum Unbounded but I do not remember it at all.

First impressions: This book is messy. It is definitely valuing style over substance. It actively chooses odd dialogue for the effect rather than content. It takes random narrative breaks and jumps around in timing for the whimsy of it.

Loving this honestly. Have not loved an Ali Hazelwood book this much since The Love Hypothesis
