Dunne manages to weave dread SO seamlessly...I'm trying my best to read at night but I always get too scared and go to bed, and I consider myself to be a seasoned horror reader mind u... It's baffling.

Awful main character, and the plot requires you to completely suspend your disbelief. It wasn't for me.

Judging by what I've read so far, there won't be a single redeeming character in this book. It's a page-turner, but also depressing as fudge. (I'm trying to stop cussing, and this is me going cold-turkey, deal with it)

Fitzgerald is so good at character building, and he does it so seamlessly. I didn't even know I cared about Anthony until I got this far. I knew I liked Maury and that's about it.

So, i haven't been updating for a while. Duma Key is for a bookstagram read-along, so I'm reading slowly, annotating and just savoring the story. In my humble opinion, this one of King's best works.

I forgot how much I love King, especially his earlier stuff. I want to read this slowly and carefully, bcs it's for an ongoing booksatgram read-along, but also bcs I just want to savor it as long as I can. That's how good it is, right off the bat.

I'm one hour in, and I really like it so far. I don't get the part where The Beauty talks to The Voice, but that will probably be explained later on. I mean, is it like...supernatural, or just a metaphor, or simply a "bridge" in the story? We'll see, but right now I like it.

Very creepy, but for some reason, it reads like a thriller. It's full of horror elements, don't get me wrong, but it has a thrillery vibe. Basically, I'm not scared, but I can't wait to see what happens next and how everything unfolds. On the same note, it is incredibly well written.

Faeries and sirens? Sign me up.

It's terrific so far. I'm a fan of strong character-driven stories and this one is exactly that.
