I loved the first 3 stories especially - though the entire book dealt with some interesting characters. It seemed to lose steam for me in the second part. There were no happy endings, no conclusions... Just some questions we'll never answer. I guess that's life. Yes, actually, this was a very realistic collection of stories.

I love Slater's writing - and the story of her childhood is engrossing. I want to read slowly and savor it but it's hard.

Loved it. The innocent tone, coupled with the dark subject matter, was like nothing else I've read. Fascinating read.

This is turning out to be a fun, light-hearted read ...and so far I'm puzzled as to why his teacher assigned it...
