I didn't come here for a retelling of the Argonautica. Let's get to the Euripides already.

At first I was concerned this might be romantasy or some YA nonsense. But then a nun teamed up with a witch and I realized that this was exactly for me.

So far it's medieval lesbian siege Sinners, and I love it.

I don't have any attraction to a trilogy that can only offer grimdark war crimes, and two-steps-back every character's magic after they do something impressive.

This has been a viscerally painful experience inside this character. I feel like interactions with Miranda would involve twice as much eye contact as I want.

2.5hrs and only read the prelude and the prologue. Most of that time spent on the wiki. This reread is going to be drawn out.

Oh. Spotify has a monthly time limit on audio book listening.

I don't need to start reading another book, but Spotify suddenly makes every audiobook available and here I am.
It seemed like it would be quick and harmless to dip in for a few chapters so I could steal a certain plot point for D&D. But this audiobook! I forgot how the reader, John McDonough, makes every word both syrupy and harsh. I want to give examples, but it's meaningless until you hear the voice.

These books go down so easy. Charming little romantic dummies.

Uughh. Too much Y.A. messing up all this amazing world building!!

This is a waste of my time. I've read more than 100 Star Wars books, if this is one that is getting positive attention then the new expanded universe is in grim shape. Unrelatable stakes, generic heroes, stupid hateful villains, and a setting that does nothing to set itself apart from anything we've seen.

These awkward medieval fantasy characters are idiots, and I love them.

Beautiful world building, populated by dumb YA characters. sigh

I've been reading this book extraordinarily slowly only because it's on my Kindle, and there are few moments when I'm willing to touch that thing. But that's not the point. The point is, this book is delightful. I'm loving these characters and the completely unique perspectives they have.
50% in and 5 stars.

I feel like this book is making me crazy. I can't remember what generation in reading about and the names are all the same. Everything happens so fast and these people are crazy.
It's like if Terry Gilliam adapted a Steinbeck novel but then decided that he should make twelve sequels and then crammed them all into one story.

Whoa, massive tone shift between The Sword and the Stone and The Queen of Air and Darkness.

This is a Stephen King book without the hook.

sci-fi authors seem to regularly overestimate how interesting genetic engineering is.

Apparently this series is better at the beginning... I'm completely un-engaged 1/4 of the way in. If her could just kill one character that would be nice. Time to quit.

And I just spent an hour reading theories. Damnit I love these books.

One chapter in and I'm overwhelmed. Do children really read books like this?

And that's enough real life to last me for the year.

Well, I got 107/112 book for my challenge. Good enough. More books than graphic novels.
Probably next year I'm not going to do a challenge. Too much pressure.
