1/3 of the way through. The guys finally dead but it felt kind of anticlimactic, felt like she found out he was dead kind of late but maybe that’s because the authors writing is very poetic, not a bad thing just timing seems to feel odd.

I’m feeling stuck with this, I hate the weird second person perspective, don’t know if I’ve ever read a book like this let alone listened to one but I wanna know what happens so I gotta keep on keeping on. Also, Idk what the hell is going on because I’m so distracted by “you moved your body”….its hurting my brain idk why

Like I already hate backstabbing and gaslighting and lying, just be evil, don’t do all this shit. I am really gd tired of male characters thinking they know what’s best for a woman. Not even a quarter way through and I’m already annoyed. I really kinda sorta hate WWII stuff, I’m over it. Also, already pissed off at the whole “they won’t win the war without us white women” when it was black people on the front and Navajo code talkers that were so INCREDIBLY critical to the win and they NEVER get the credit they’re due.

Kai’s self pity is making me regret ever starting this book. I just finished the Prisoner’s Throne by holly black and I was getting annoyed with Oaks “I’m a monster” bit but now…yes Oak, you are a monster, a more believable monster that is. and Kai is pathetic. He’s actually pathetic, he seems soooo strong willed and yet he’s never defied his father’s commands to his face?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN HIS CHOCOLATE BROWN EYES!?!? I JUST updated my progress on this book and I am SO CLOSE TO PUTTING ALL THESE CHARACTERS IN A CHOKE HOLD. Except for Adena, I have a feeling I’m gonna like her story a hell of a lot better

Chapter 44, writing this to remind myself to figure out if this world and that of Three Dark Crowns are linked because Reed just asked Farah (? I’m listening to the audiobook so I have no idea how names are spelled) about Etheal? Itheal? Ethial? No idea…Reed asks about Etheals fate and Farah said she used to be a queen where sisters have to kill each other for the throne…coincidence? I think not…

I’ve been stuck on the last couple chapters for a month. Finally on the last chapter and it’s taking me everything in me to actually finish it.

Now this is just annoying.
I often times do this. I watch a show, love the story, decide to read the original. Only a few times have I been disappointed by the original and this is one of those times. My god, it is so long and I feel like it will never end, not enough is happening to make me wanna keep reading and with the current events in the story, it’s actively dissuading me. To the DNF pile you go.

Okay, I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this and I’m kind of pleasantly surprised, at least when considering how much I wanted to scream when I started listening to this and it gave me two long ass chapters about two different white men and I kept (internally) screaming “bring me the witch already!”
Its like a damn history book more than entertainment but I’m an anthropologist so 🤷‍♀️

I feel like so much of how a book comes off is based on mood and I am not in the mood for this. It is slow and not much happens. It kind of reminds me of Adrienne Young’s writing. It’s not bad writing just too slow for me rn. Gonna have to finish this later because it’s finally spoopy season and I need to read something with witches

I’m gonna freak tf out rn. There better be some joyous sh*t that happens soon because I’m 5 seconds into this book about to fight these racist assholes and steal the medicine for them. Are you kidding me rn? I cannot STAND IT!
As you can see, I do not enjoy when the first episode, chapter, or 15 minutes of a film are depressing and frustrating. My heart is racing and I’m just trying to wash these damn dishes.
