Due to the fact that I read the book quite slowly in the beginning it was hard to get into. But now that my pace is beginning to pick us. The book seems really exciting and I can't wait to read more

This is the first real book of poetry I am reading and I love it so far! Bei Dao's use of metaphor's are amazing and to me it's as if each poem is a puzzle and once I figure it out it is the most rewarding feeling. I can't wait to keep reading

So far so good. I do really enjoy what I have read so far. I enjoyed the background story of the parents very much. And today I just read about the affair between James and Louisa (wow, unexpected) and all of the blank diaries Lyndia kept. I had so much empathy for Marilyn today. Her daughters life was left unwritten and her husband (no matter how hurt he was) had just done something so un-loyal.
