Ugh. I mean obviously these books are unbelievable drama but this is just getting to be a bit too much. “Honey my mom who I told you was dead is alive and in trouble!” Even worse, why would you help your sleazy husband who faked his death and saddled you with debt to murder someone!?!?

God this man’s lies are insufferable. Why do all these women keep falling for it?

Barn - This one was creepy but also sort of dumb. Points for style.

The Teacher - All these stories are pretty bleak. Gotta read this one in small doses. Again, the metaphor is strong with this one.

Where We All Will Be - This one had potential. Maybe needed to be a bit longer. Maybe hit you over the head with the metaphor too much… but also, I love an ambiguous ending but, Paul, you gotta end at least one of these stories definitively!

Nineteen Snapshots of Dennisport - I liked how this one was told, neat gimmick

The Getaway - Slow start but interesting.

But the plot aside, I have a bone to pick with the author. It does not rain that much in Portland! In fact it’s so hot during the summers now. Also the In N Out in Beaverton hasn’t opened yet, and got help us all when it does - traffic is going to be awful.

This got dark. So dark. Like, you think you know what’s going on, but then you read about Prince of Space and it’s like holy fuck! It’s one thing to think it, its another to see it play out…

I don’t want to stop reading but I need to sleep. Eddie Video is so creepy!

Holy shit this is so devastating and hilarious at the same time. Poor Ivan. I miss Moxie and I haven’t even met him yet… what if he also broke bad? Or did Ivan? I can’t stand it. Also what’s up with Eddie Video? Why is he so evil to begin with?

At this point anyone could be the kidnapper/killer. Considering Lapena’s other book I read where it was the obvious answer, it’s probably the dad.

Ok this got good after the first chapter lol

The first chapter was so boring. From the description I thought this would be more metaphysical, like one of the characters in Wind Up Bird. But it seems like it’s actually someone stealing Eden’s identity (or Eden isn’t actually Eden but then how would she know all the boring stuff she said in the first chapter?)

Read almost half of this in a day. It’s so good!

Something About Birds - This was really good and then ended abruptly. Maybe I’m not smart enough to understand the ending.

The “swim” story was pretty good! Do y’all think the monsters were real? I don’t. Do you think Julie lives? Tremblay is the master of ambiguity.
