I don’t know why I always assumed this was set in modern times?? It’s not but I’m not mad at it.

I love reading books written by journalists pt. 2

Not to be cynical but I thought maybe all the glowing praise for this book would be a case recency bias but message aside (and the message is great, mind you), this is (so far) also just an incredibly well-constructed collection of essays both in their individual writing and how they’re edited together.

This did get a chuckle out of me I won’t lie

Lit fic so good I don’t even care it’s 400 pages. I’ll be sad when it’s over.

His writing style reminds me of someone but I can’t think of who. Maybe a bit of Ocean Vuong?

One hundred pages later and I still think this should be pitched as YA fantasy. Having the main character “retelling” the story when they’re several years older doesn’t change the fact that he is an adolescent/teen for the vast majority of the book. The plot and pacing is also very YA.

Will yall jump me if I say I’m a bit bored
