The book has really picked up!

The Bill Cosby reference is another thing that did not age well.

Sad to say I'm struggling with this book.

I lost it.

No one warned me that the Mafia subplot involved a cat getting murdered! Or that Dr. Hooper and Mrs. Brody's affair would be so cringe. I think I'm starting to root for the shark.

Hooper and Ellen's affair was worse than I'd imagined. Did people really court that way in the 70s?

Earlier today, I got to the part where Mrs. Brody reveals that she used to date Dr. Hooper's brother. Apparently "Gums" (1976) is the more faithful adaptation in that regard!
