Book One, The Man of Property (finished February 13, 2026):
This was hard to put down! There are a few characters that are so bad it feels good to hate them, which is always fun (in a book).
It reminded me of Howard's End... the passing of a certain era in England, the passing of the baton to the next generation. Great writing. I can't wait to continue the saga...

Every time we have a bout of sickness in the household, I want to read this! Finally actually pulled it out this time.

So far the 2 main characters are so contemptuous and cynical - and they use SO MANY WORDS to express their cynicism and contempt - that I’m struggling. With the exception of a line here and a paragraph there, it’s been pretty ugly.
But I just arrived at Part 2, so here’s hoping we’ve turned a corner…
I’m going to keep going because I trust the ones who recommended it!
