I get that this book is setting the scene for the rest in the series, and nothing makes me want to quit now than ALL OF THOSE LOSE ENDS.
Alas I have been sucked in and I’m off to purchase the second in the series to see where this story goes. My favourite character? The house.

I am thoroughly enjoying this so far, a great collection of ghost stories.
My favourite so far is Devil’s Dip - the story telling had a laid back feel and moved along at an easy pace. I also enjoyed Drown, a neat concept with relatable main characters.

Knowing absolutely nothing about monks or monasteries, I have already picked up quite a bit about their way of life.
Decent character development - I already really like Jack, and I think I will only grow to like him more as the story moves forward.
Relatively fast paced and surprisingly easy to follow.
Although I must say there is an awful lot of talk about food/eating and feeling hungry/being hungry.
