I am finding this difficult to get through. After hearing Elif Shafak on dessert island discs, I found out that she wrote this book in English which is not her first language. I can't help thinking it suffers because of it - the story just doesn't flow in spite of the beautiful scenes she depicts and her obvious comfort with the subject matter. Approach with caution if, like me, you struggle to immerse into a book.
