This is a beautiful, powerful book but I don't think I can finish it. As a childless parent, it is so accurate in conveying the depth of grief of losing a child. But it's also very distressing to read and know that centuries of parents have been haunted by that same pain. Of course they/we have - that evolutionary thread is one of the most powerful among us. And I am glad that this story exists to accurately convey

I'm going to have to pick this one back up when I can get my hands on a physical copy because there are about 50 characters in this relatively short book and I cannot keep up.

"When The language one identifies with is far away, one does everything possible to keep it alive. Because words bring back everything: the place, the people, the life, the streets, the light, the sky, the flowers, the sounds. When you live without your own language you feel weightless and, at the same time, overloaded. You breathe another type of air, at a different altitude. You are always aware of the difference."

This translation is so readable I don't want to put it down??

I love this book so much I feel like I need to take it as slowly as possible, page by page, line by line.
