I’ve been looking forward to reading this but after the first essay I’m really not impressed- the writing feels a little half-bakes and disjointed.

i already know i’m gonna give this 5 stars 🧍‍♀️mishima’s writing makes me feel like i’m imploding sometimes. it’s a shame about the imperialism

Reminds me of listening to a grandfather’s meandering story, diversions and all. Almost a hundred pages in but feel as if I’ve just begun reading; easy to get lost in it.

i promised myself i’d read more i’m 2022 what happened 😭😭 Anyway. Convinced that Emma’s hypocrisy is just her projection of her own vices onto others because she cannot accept them in herself without shattering her carefully curated self-image.

When Knightley thinks of dropping in on the Bates’ because Emma and Harriet are there but outright refuses when he finds out Mrs. Westin and Frank Churchill are with them…. the drama…

Hm, troubled author, nagging wife, young child are left alone together in an isolated mountain lodge? Where have I heard this one before?
