I have to question what makes a novel a finalist for a prestigious award and what makes it impossible for me to connect to the protagonist in this one. I don’t care to finish after 25%. Maybe it gets better but I’m all good reading the inner thoughts of the self indulgent, dishonest and mentally destructive.

And the motel? Come the fuck on.

This should have been a five star book. It lost a little from me because at times the unnecessary descriptions got to be too much. If you find yourself getting bored at times, keep going, this is a must read.
