My first Ocean Vuong! Just got started at bedtime read with Chapter 1.... Already melancholically riveting!

It's interesting how this book has no Prologue (or Epilogue for that matter..) The story just begins.. (Is it her style in general or just this book?)

Also I think my first novel set in Connecticut/New England.. refreshing on the geography as a side note was also refreshing!

This book is tremendous! I'm reading it now for the #bookclub on Thursday... One of the things I have off late been increasingly concerned about is the absolute lack of knowledge I grew up with on the African continent and the history of its people...

Just finished the first chapter that deals with Effia. It already put a lot of Ghana in context. Really rich writing ✍️...
