Thank God, Dini is salvaging this with "Heart of Hush". That's good Batman storytelling. Sucks Selina gets sidelined, but making Hush that petty and childish is appropriate. It's doing more for him than Liberman ever tried. Feels somewhat worth of being a sequel to the original. Glad Selina got her measure of revenge.

I never want to read any Batman/comics by Liberman again. His stories were so lame/uninteresting/half baked I started skimming whole issues by the end. He makes up like 1/3rd of this book for God's sake! Oh, criminy, thank God Dini starts the next arc.

Oh my God can we get Liberman off this damn book. His writing is so forgettable. This Ivy arc was so bland I will not remember it.

Wow, was that Pushback arc downright a waste of my time.
This arc summed up to a whole lot of nothing. Joker didn't act how he should, he gets beat on, and Hush has flimsy motivation.
Idk how Prometheus missed shooting both Joker and Batman, that's laughable (I know, comics)
What a waste of time and the Hush character.

Wrapped up re reading Hush. I admit defeat, it isn't as good as I remember it being as a teen. It was some leaps in logic and filler, but it looks immaculate. The Batman vs Superman issue is damn perfect, and Batman knows his limits. The overall story does unravel a bit by the last few issues, and gets funny when you know the Red Hood retcon. Now on to material I haven't read before.

Man the Sinestro Corps war is just spectacle big two comics at its finest. Violence, multiple page spreads, death, and big colorful action. Chefs kiss

Man I love this book. Gibbons and Gleason really flesh out and set up a whole ensemble of new lanterns so well in these first few arcs, while making it look good. Guy is a ass as he always is, but he anchors the book as the familiar face. This book's lead up to the war is far more effective than the main title, that's for sure. Murder mysteries, mind control infections, explosions? Had a little bit of everything

I can confidently say I wasn't missing much by not reading some of those earlier GL arcs I skipped besides a few pages of buildup for the war. Wanted Hal Jordan is kinda a free for all with a bunch of D tier characters fighting Hal in Russia. The star saffire issues are eh at best, Acuna on art is a nice touch tho, no bad art in this book. Now onto the good stuff, the actual war.

Finally, more space adventures, and Ivan Reis! The definitive GL artist of this era imo! Some of the larger DC universe tie in stuff here I glossed over, this clearly was around infinite crisis, but the actual mission to rescue the missing lanterns was exciting, and to see the evil Hank Henshaw again. Now we are cooking!

It's becoming more clear to me Johns is just messing around with hoky silver age stuff cuz he can. I did enjoy the Green Arrow team up issue vs Mongrol's son, that was a good throwback. I still don't like how John's writes Batman, but taking on a dumb villain like Tattoo Man is just dumb enough to work for a issue. Up next, the rescue mission!

Recharge is still amazing, but I'm going to re read it when I crack open the GLC book. These first few arcs of the main book seem so pedestrian in comparison. Manhunters, coast city, hector Hammond and the weird goblins, and slightly powering up Black Hand. It's not wow-ing me, maybe there's a reason I didn't feel bad for skipping the earlier stuff.

Rebirth still feels special to me a decade later, even if this is the 5th time I've read it. Is it one long recon joint slobbering all over the legacy of Hal? Yes, a bit, I can see that now. That doesn't make it any less cool, and a mild marvel of moving the pieces into place. Shame EVS is a grifter PoS now, his pencils were great in this. Moose Baumann needs more credit for their coloring, magnifique

Her big sarcastic dragon is the only saving grace of this so far. Also shocked at how much this is "borrowing" from Shadow and Bone

I know nazi zombies has been a thing for a long time, but vampire Nazis is just so obvious. Also reminds me of Hellsing. Sean Murphy is magic on art.

Man, the Ghost War arc is so damn cool. Combining WW2 covert ops with vampires!? And the drama of Henry trapped between Skinner and Pearl!? Even with the rule of cool, it's good reading.

Man did this book start slow, and meander a bit, but once the adventure gets going it's been great! Magic, a horrifying kraken, ugly ass goblins, lots of sarcasm, a little bit of flirting and shagging, and weird ass magic. Need to crack down and finish it

That second arc is fun stuff, more evolution with Skinner really stirring the shift between the hunters and the vamps. Vegas is sin City, and it's got its own monsters. Poor Cash, really gets the short end of the stick.

Still cannot believe they got Stephen King to write the backups in the first ar. The dual origins for Pearl and Skinner are very well written, and Albuquerque such a good fit art wise. The whole Abi and Book situation is kinda gross NGL, but it was the Old West. First arc holds up

The first half of this, once you get past some of that Kree supreme intelligence mess, is surprisingly large in scope. Some of the most memorable big picture stuff from the run. Shame the art is so scattered

I forgot how many small moments of humor Hickman squeezes in between all the sci Fi adventures. The real human moments are beautiful. Granted, some of the inhuman/four cities stuff is a bit abstract to the overall plot. But the first two arcs are very strong. Flying through this
