This is my first encounter with the author and this series. In fifteen pages, I've encountered four business plugs for Death by Coffee, an exceedingly annoying main character, and far too many Other Characters from Krissy's life (10 with names, two without, including the assumed dead person). I don't even care who killed them or why, and I really don't want Krissy, co-owner and amateur sleuth, as my guide.

By this point I could do without characters referring to hard-nosed women in authority as "bitches" (so tiresome) and other outmoded terms such as "powwow" to mean "important meeting".

I'm also eye-rolling at the attempts to get the single Dad of ten a new girlfriend.

It's absolutely bored-on-a-plane or beach read material. You're not required to think too hard.

So far, it's beautifully written but exceedingly tedious.
