Already not off to a great start. I do appreciate the world-building so far, and the set-up is certainly intriguing, but... what is this gold font for one POV, standard for another?? It feels like a cringy gimmick, and it just makes it harder to read the text. It also feels like it's been done because the two 1st person POVs aren't distinctive enough without it.

I'm going to finish, the concept is neat, but... eh.

I'm barely in but I. Love. This. VOICE. Seriously, there is a dry humor that speaks to me, and I can't help but be delighted at this dreadfully campy, morbid, tongue-in-cheek look into young women and how they're objectified from a young age. It's so wonderful. I have high, high hopes for this!

If I hadn't known how this trilogy would be split and told, I'd be annoyed by the comparatively rushed pace. Mead normally sails along smoother than this, but she normally has more leeway to expound on the series/emotions. It's an interesting take, for sure, and I'm admittedly still hooked. In the end, that's all that matters.

... so... a toddler is tortured, or nearly so... which enrages Juliette... to the point she smashes through cement... she wanted to take the kid away from it all... AND NOW SHE'S MAKING OUT WITH ADAM? AND TRYING TO BONE HIM??

I... I don't understand this mindset. Everything was pretty awesome, then deeply uncomfortable, then WTF. Still reading on, gorgeous voice, but serious WTF going on.

Really unusual style, very train-of-thought. It takes some getting used to, but it's delightfully vivid.

I normally hate strong cursing in YA, but the characters who do it are just so fun and almost real that I can totally forgive it this time.

I seriously don't know how NOT to love this series. Heard some complaints for this one, but so far it's solid.

Uh... WTF sudden POV jump? Feels super weird to go from Bloodlines doing that to this series. Is this the new "in"? Don't get me wrong, I like reading Tobias's POV, but this is just such a strange decision for the end of the series.

It's good... but I'm torn. It definitely reads as a "tie up all loose ends in one go" novel, and I have to admit, it's a little disappointing. Also reminded me that she never addressed the "losing your virginity halves your magic" problem brought up in a previous novel. :/

On the edge of my seat! OMG. Best book in the series so far.

For a book that's supposed to entice "Hunger Games" and "Game of Thrones" fans, it's doing a poor job. Literally the only draw is the fact the stakes are high and these trials are supposed to be brutal--AND WE'RE NOT SEEING ANY OF THEM. HG and GoT are huge because their WORLDS are huge. The only thing huge here is Celaena's ego! And self-centeredness!

Dorian isn't any better.

I don't care how reinforced it is, making a huge part of a castle out of glass doesn't make the slightest bit of sense in the time period depicted. Is the planet immune to earthquakes?

Can't stop rolling my eyes at Celaena. I've seen this character hundreds of times in retconned fanfic and it hasn't been interesting since I was 16. She's wildly inconsistent on top of that, like her brash attitude was written but "sympathetic" characteristics were added last minute when it was clear no one liked her. She's not complex, she's a snowflake.

I... don't think I'm going to like this one. I already can't stand Celaena and the style the author uses is making me twitch in all the wrong ways. :/
