Keris is fucking insufferable.

The author's mother was abusive when she was growing up, but she (author) excuses it now as "tough love". 🥴 I find it hard to tolerate people excusing child abuse, even when it's the victim doing it. I've heard that this is a very emotional memoir, and indeed it is. It had me crying in the first few minutes. But if the whole book is like this, then I might have to DNF. Child abuse is a sore spot for me.
