Well, that was…upsetting. Nicely played. But so harsh.

This is well written and engaging, but it's hard to say it's an enjoyable read. Jessie's decision is not one that I agree with which can be discomfiting but that's not a flaw as such. Certain aspects of the SF premise push suspension of belief a little far (even for an idea book). As someone who has studied some virology, I don't quite buy the virus. Also some (not all) of humanities reactions to it seem a bit odd.

Really enjoying this so far. I enjoyed Worldshaker and Liberator but I think this may have even wider appeal. I feel a bit like Richard has taken up residence in my brain though. After hearing him read an extract at Continuum 9 I can now hear his voice narrating it in my head. Exactly like Cat Sparks warned!
