If the author EVER reads this update: LEARN THE USE OF COMMAS!
Commas are essential for clarity and accuracy in written language. They act as separators within sentences, indicating pauses or breaks in thought, which helps readers understand the intended meaning and prevents misinterpretations. Without proper comma usage, sentences can become confusing or ambiguous, altering the intended message.

Author has an allergy to commas. It's not even just a one-off mistake that can happen to any writer, it's pretty much EVERY DAMNED SENTENCE THAT CALLS FOR ONE!

EG.

‘You must be joking?’ ‘I don’t joke about Mars Dick. You know that.'

Mars Dick? Have I picked up an alien erotica book by mistake? Then realisation hits he's shortened Richard's name and did NOT use a comma between MARS & DICK!

IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!

I really enjoyed this book for about the first 2/3rds...intriguing, magical, enchanting...but then I felt it stalled, as if the author carefully taken her time crafting the first part & then decided to rattle off the final third without care or thought. Too many things thrown in that were equally obvious but left you without a satisfying conclusion that could have been explored deeper (e.g. Opaline's true parentage).
