So far, it's different from what I expected. No dialogue, so it does not read like a story - like it's actually happening. Reads more like a report - a really, really long report.

Just started yesterday - read the prologue.

So love this book. It makes me want to teach more novels. There are so many great stories out there. Someone how education, we have moved away from the whole class novel completely but this book shows what can be done when the kids are just reading novel after novel.

Hilarious - Nate is trying to impress women and he thinks stuffing a ton of food in his mouth is the way to do it, so Francis told the girls that Nate has the mumps - real impressive.

So far, set up in an easy to follow manner with great ideas for making connections with kids. Just have to convince the board of ed to let me teach it!

I am at the part where they are beginning spring of sophomore year. This young teacher and her students have accomplished so much already. They are reading books where before they said they hated reading, they are taking field trips and they are writing! Writing like crazy! I love this book so far!! I love that she is looping with the kiddos. How well she must know them by now!

At this point, they have joined up with two other lifeboats and are trying to decide if they want to shift people around or leave everyone put in their own lifeboats.

They are beginning to realize that even though the boat says it can hold 40 and they have 39, they also brought a lot of supplies, not knowing how long they are going to be on the boat, and they are pushing over capacity. I am having trouble visualizing this lifeboat and the plot is pretty slow moving right now.

Right now, they are on the lifeboat after the explosion and they are figuring out how to go to the bathroom - it's pretty gross.
