Oops. Just realized this is book 5 of a series. Better hold off and start from the beginning.

Yessssssssss! I missed the release announcement of the newest in the Jackman & Evans series. I LOVE this series as narrated by Richard Armitage on Audible!

This one was a slow starter for me, but we’re in deep now.

Ugh. Here we go again.

Man this series is SO CHEESY and predictable, but I’m a sucker for it.

The audiobook narrator is awful. I’m holding for the ebook copy from my library.

I already intensely dislike this main character.

This is really dark…. 😬
And, I’m sorry, but am I supposed to be rooting for this manipulative, micro-managing Momster?

Ahh, the halfway point of a mediocre book. Do I continue, spending as much time as I already have, hoping that it gets better? Or do I move on now?

Ooooooooookayyyy, and I’ve ground to a halt. The political digs and preaching about covid are about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Way to ruin what began so promising.

I’m immediately hooked, rather amused, and slightly horrified. I would like to not have to work today so that I could read this non-stop!

Don’t judge me… 😜😜

Hmmmm…. This is definitely not the Marilla fans know and love. 😕

Setting this aside. I just can’t get into it, and my time is too valuable right now. 🤪

Okay, I can see now that I’m going to have to suspend my Medical Staff Professional brain. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book. Very emotional. And medically accurate, to a point. But for the exciting bits to happen, we’re about to break some rules that form the basis of my career. So my eye might be twitching, just a bit.

4th book, and I still hate the main character!! WHY do people say this series is the author’s best?? I am reading for the side characters at this point.

Ready to be done with this one. Not a huge fan. It’s just soooo heavy handed, politically speaking. And the frequent historical info dumps are dragging it down.

This has quickly gotten to the point of “I don’t want to put it down! Can I beg off work and read all day??” Adulting is overrated.

I didn’t know what to expect for this one. Several reader friends loved it. I didn’t expect to be laughing quite so much. Loving it!

This one is very slow getting started, but it’s finally picking up!

This is interesting, but I may have to switch to the ebook. The audiobook narrator seems to have issues putting emphasis on the wrong syllables, and it’s bugging me.

The similarities between myself and the author are kind of blowing my mind.

Eeek! This level of action and suspense is normally saved for the end! 😱😱😱

Been struggling with this one for a while and not sure why. It’s the Irish Rebellion, which is normally right up my alley…. Meh

Huh. Well, at this point it could be anyone. I’ve never read a book that had so many characters who were simultaneously sympathetic and repellent.

I did not expect to be bored at this point, but I kinda am. They say it picks up in the fourth book?? Uhhhhhh….

For some reason I thought this was Christian fiction, but there’s quite a bit of bad language. I can tell it’s going to be a tear jerker though!

I’m trying, but y’all….. this is so booooooring 😭
If any of my friends have read this but not marked it, please chime in and tell me if it’s worth it.

I simultaneously feel like I’m late to the party but also selling out. But let’s see what the hype is all about.
