A lot of exposition so far has me skimming, but we’ll keep at it!

Just realizing I hardly know anything about the FMC’s background. Did a war break out in her world and destroy civilization? An apocalypse? A virus that ended humanity? All I know is that she had a husband and a dog who are no longer around and that she’s been traveling (aimlessly?) on foot. The part I’m on speaks about how she’s tired of running, but what from?

Staying optimistic about this book. The plot sounds fascinating, but not loving it so far. The main character lacks depth, personality, or emotion. She was ripped away from her world and taken to another but there was hardly any reaction if any. She just accepted her fate and took it like a champ. The overuse of “female” and “male” is excessive. The lack of contractions in dialogue makes for clunky reading.
