part 7.. i started this book almost hating anna, judging her choices and her selfishness.. but here, i just feel sorry for her.. this part is heavy, claustrophobic, sad..

part 6 was heavy in a quiet way.. levin searching for meaning, anna and vronsky growing more strained, and it really asks what happiness costs, and whether love alone is ever enough.. the election chapters = pure boredom.. even levin can feel it..

ugh.. i feel so bad for karenin.. it's like being stuck in a simalakama situation.. no matter which way you turn, it's wrong.. left, right, up, down, everything feels like the wrong choice.. and anna karenina? yeah.. the main character and all.. but honestly, i'm so not in the mood to talk about someone who thinks beauty and desire give them the right to take whatever they want in the name of love.. cih..

part 4 kind of holds two love stories side by side.. one feels warm, growing, and hopeful.. the other is intense, consuming, and already leaning toward something painful.. it's like tolstoy is quietly asking what kind of love can actually last, and what kind burns too bright to survive..

part 3 chapter 3, the conversation between koznyshev and levin about "unimportant people", is my fave so far because it really made me think.. it weirdly relates to what's happening in sumatra right now, and how the government seems slow or unwilling to help sincerely.. maybe because, deep down, they don't see the people there as important enough..

made it through the second part.. still slow, still taking my time, but i'm getting more attached to the characters now, and the emotional tension feels heavier (and funnier).. i kinda understand it now how complicated life is in upper class society, but at the same time i don't really want to.. i don't care.. maybe because i know i don’t belong up there, wkwk.. horang-horang kaya mah kerjaannya cuma bikin drama..

it's gonna take me a long time to finish this book because i'm such a slow reader.. it took me a few days just to get through the first part but i'm pretty sure i like this kind of book.. the writing feels rich and thoughtful, and i'm actually enjoying sinking into the characters and all their little dramas.. so far it feels worth the slow pace..

i feel like i need to buy this book, not just lend it. it is so good, mind blowing banget lah kata anak jaman sekarang.

too hard for people whose english skills are at my level, wkwkwk.. but still, it's interesting! promise to finish it before the end of april..
