see, I don't think this makes kennit a well written character. no abuser thinks logically that they're perpetuating a cycle, they always think they're different. everyone is a hero in their own story. idk I thought her character work with kennit was great and its kind of falling apart here because his internal monologue doesn't sound like a real person anymore

maybe he is the clone of his father to make a perfect heir and live forever

also the fact that brashen doesn't have faith that paragon can wake up and choose to be a new person isnt only so pessimistic it goes again earlier themes of the book, but if true would also invalidate himself!! if true he isn't worth to captain paragon!!

in farseer characters do awful things to others or themselves convincing themselves it's for the greater good. verity, shrewd, chade, burrich, kettricken, fitz himself. but in liveship no character is making decisions for the country, just for themselves and their own family. its harder to stomach putting others in danger just for personal gain. the only character acting in the big picture now is amber

it feels like every character has become a trader - willing to cut the legs out from anyone else for the sake of their own profit. I want amber who is the only true hearted person to get out of here.

farseer had its dark and hopeless moments but it just felt different. so much of the wit and skill was about empathy. I think hobb has crossed a line for me here and now I find it hard to empathize with any character

it feel like the message of this book is become that the worst things people say and think of you become true and that is so bitter to swallow it's making me sick

is the main character like a clone copy of his brother? discussions of humanity and he doesn't have a name
