I'm reading this now, and I have a question about the corpses' toes. If you have read it and can spare a moment, please help me to understand. Thank you!!

I loved Homegoing. I am not a PETA person. I understand that animal testing may be necessary. Reading the descriptions of animal torture in
this book are excruciating, and while the narrator wonders if her belief in god and science are contradictory, she seems not to be equally concerned by the fact that her work is the torture of small animals. Maybe that's the point, but I'm taking a possibly permanent break.

Yeeeaaah... Halfway through and not sure I should continue, I decide to check some Goodreads reviews. "American character," "American psyche," American blahblah," as if there is such a thing... and even if there were, this would be an exceptionally jaded take on it.

If David Mitchell ever decides to write a novel with a proper story, it will probably be quite good. Unfortunately, I won't be around to see it. This is the second of his novels that I've read, and I'm taking a break at the 65% mark to spare myself a screaming fit. Will I ever come back to this one? We'll see.

Just a little more than halfway through, but even if it sucks from here to the end, I'm giving this one 5 stars for what I've read so far. Terrifically entertaining.
