Enjoyed the underlying conceit. Found the historical context pleasurable.

Returned after first 25 pages. Did not like plot at all.

Could not get past the first 10 pages.

I am beginning to wonder if detailled love scenes/dreams have become the NASCAR wrecks of JAFF.

Returned it. Could not get into the entire concept. Having one character become heroic is easier to digest than having all be as mercenary as a classic Caroline Bingley.

Slowly fighting my way through this so I can write a comprehensive review. Was this a translation? Major difficulties with period language and euphemisms.

Just so you know...I had to re-upload the file to my Kindle so my wife could read the book!

Separate novella from another collection.

Ran out of energy on this one. All done.

Gave up on it. Even the absurdity wears thin.

Having trouble finishing. As with this author's other works, the characters talk incessantly. Also, maybe the author is dictating because uncomfortable homonyms disrupt the flow. Fun plot, though. Heading toward 3 stars, I think.

Coming from a media family (my wife is a television director), we tend to watch our movies with an eye toward the Director's Guild nominations (Really? "Manchester By The Sea?" Really?). In the old days, films that were not destined for the awards season were released in January and February to be forgotten by the time the "real" movies came out. DO NOT FORGET "THE BEST PART OF LOVE!!!" This is an exceptional book.

On page One...Author--please remember that our hero could not have turned over the Athena to the yard.

Enjoying this JAFF version of "Groundhog Day."

This is an interesting read...but at times the classism jumps out too strongly. Are we looking backwards into the 18th Century? Or forwards into the 19th?
