was excited for this book club read but now am reluctantly trudging through the longest book without a plot

wow audio is not the best format to read this. will maybe try reading it again with my eyes.

unfortunately i turned the page to another academic chat (aka the author's lectures to the readers) and i can't. nay, i refuse. while i am impressed with the author's extensive knowledge on so many topics (applause to you, author!), they are boring. dnf!

finally made it to some more action and adventure after page-long paragraphs about sperm. my progress feels too hard fought to dnf now but alas, i may.

some thing, some spoilery thing, has made this story very exciting for me and i need to finish it. i am such a sucker.

"Red couldn't recall the last time she didn't know something" sums up the MC perfectly.

the quote also highlights how egregiously stupid every other character is created to be.

as long as the author doesn't fuck this up in the last half *glares threateningly at author across space and time*, i'm in love with this book.

working through these ARCs and realizing that past me had pretty good discernment and taste. this book seems like it's gonna be a cutie.

i'm really enjoying the story but 65% of the characters' communication is in subtext and body language and i an so confused lol
