Ch.4a soul mind and body - Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas and Descartes

Ch.28-34 - Amina discovers that Lab has chosen Dalila as her next host and learns that Dalila has secretly been trying to save her from the poison. Meanwhile, Amina sabotages Lab’s magical tapestry by weaving her hair into it, causing Khatti Ugal’s enchantment to unravel. Amina escapes to rescue Raksh as the city descends into chaos.

Part 2 - reads like a YA novel: young protagonist at a magical academy. Good though.

Ch.23-27 - Amina discovers that Khatti Ugal is a city of the dead, with its inhabitants trapped by the queen’s magic. She learns that Dalila has been secretly working with Lab, while Lab turns the captured bandits into sheep. Amina begins to uncover the truth behind the magical shrouds and realises she must sabotage the queen’s control.

Ch.12-17 - Amina’s suspicions about Khatti Ugal deepen as she discovers that its people are trapped and that the palace’s apparent paradise hides something sinister. Her visions continue, while Dalila increasingly dismisses her concerns and becomes entangled with Queen Lab. Amina begins investigating the island’s secrets, discovering that its textiles and inhabitants are connected to the mysterious spindle.

Proper 15 - Psalm 67 celebrates God’s blessing as something intended not merely for his people but for all nations, so that they may know and praise him. It implies that God’s people are blessed for the sake of others, becoming a means through which his justice, guidance and salvation are made known throughout the world.

Ch.12-16 - Amina and the crew arrive in Khatti Ugal, where Arno presents it as a sanctuary for the lost, though no one seems able to leave. They meet Queen Lab, who offers Amina a bargain: stay and teach while their ship is repaired. During a lavish feast, Amina senses that the apparent paradise is actually a magical trap.

Proper 15 - Isaiah 56:1, 6–8 presents God’s salvation as open to all who faithfully follow him, including foreigners who worship and serve him. It implies that God’s people are defined not by ethnicity or status but by faithfulness to God, and that his house is intended to be a place of welcome and prayer for all nations.

Ch.7-11 Amina learns more about Queen Lab and waits for news of Dalila, only to discover that Dalila has been captured in Sarilaglag. Amina rescues her, but learns she has been poisoned. Soon afterwards, a supernatural storm wrecks the Marawati. The First Intermission reveals the tragic origins of the mysterious spindle-being.

Proper 14 - Matthew 14:22–33 shows Jesus revealing his divine authority and calling his disciples to trust him amid fear and uncertainty. It links with themes of God’s presence, salvation, peace and faithful response, implying that faith means recognising and trusting Christ even when circumstances are threatening, confident that God remains sovereign and brings deliverance.

Ch.1-6 - Amina’s new mission is to recover the magical spindle, the Third Transgression, which can alter fate. After Khayzur warns her that the spindle is in the hands of the mysterious Queen Lab, Amina’s daughter Marjana begins revealing signs of her inherited magic. Dalila leaves to pursue Raksh, while Marjana secretly joins Amina’s voyage to Baghdad, where the crew learns more about Lab and her sinister reputation

Ch.64-66 + acknowledgements - Violet restores the Basgiath wards using the power of seven dragon breeds, but her mother sacrifices herself to make it possible. The wyverns are destroyed, yet Xaden returns changed, with red-rimmed eyes. Xaden reveals that he has drawn power from the earth to save Violet—confirming that he has become venin.

Proper 14 - Romans 10:5–15 teaches that salvation through Christ is accessible to all who believe and call on him, rather than being achieved through human effort. It implies that God's gracious offer of salvation requires a response of faith and proclamation, so believers are called to share the good news with others.
