... so long. feels like a waste of time for it to be so long. what is even happening that's making it so long. yet it's well written so I can't bring myself to dnf. whyyy

Ugh, LGBT content should have a trigger warning. so gross. I don't want to be smacked in the face with men passionately kissing, that's repulsive. I hate having to be on edge every time two men are affectionate, nowadays. why the heck can't they touch while being genuine friends. why does it ALWAYS have to be sexual.

Just when I wanted to praise Angier for being a decent man and devoted to his wife, of course he eventually also cheats on her and loses his family. Men written by men don’t need to be this dumb… do they?

HOW UTTERLY TEDIOUS AND REPETITIVE THIS IS. oh my gosh why do the same scenes keep happening over and over in this series. and in infuriating side characters--they are so completely annoying. Just LET Cyrus and Alizeh TALK, for heaven's sake. I will be astounded if anything actually happens in this book. Was there a wedding? because it seemed just like a lot of talking. like every "event" is in the last two books

Creepy. The way Margot demonises boys and men and elevates outgoing women in this novel is unsettling, and annoying. She is so obsessed with Eliza and Lucy to the point it's gross, repetitive, and disturbing.

DNF 50%. This is claustrophobic, and too hefty. Dysfunctional secrets revealed one by one, and it's just, ugh. I'm good.

why is it so hard to find an intense book that isn’t drowning me in profanity?

.... dang. this is just boring, and although the magic system seems cool, by the length I can see it taking a long time to be anything. and there's probably not even going to be any good romance to look forward to! just boring war stuff and rebellion. ugh

... ugh. in such a book slump right now, nothing I read is good. The lesbian Viola here is the last straw. it's small but it's enough to aggrevate me into dropping when the rest of the book is barely good enough to continue

so, sooo long and boring by the time I was 50% way through, everything interesting had been overmilked. it just went on and on. so much filler!

..... I really don't like this so far. Han dies in the beginning, right off the bat, just to give Ash a motive for revenge? soooo stupid omg. Tasteless violence, and those priests are squicky as heck

Loooong. so so long. This book just had repeated themes over and over and should've been a fraction of how long it was. It was good in the first half though!

This sounds so promising and interesting, but just like every other Schwab book I've read it doesn't hold my interest. dang it! Her books should be amazing but they never execute well for me.

I love the narration and the premise but the story is just boring me to tears. The lead male is also boring beyond belief. So tired of rich, good-looking guys.

Can't finish. I'm very curious about the ending but this story is making me feel a little ill. Evelyn's choices and being inside her mind is nauseating, and I feel sorry for her. She is so lost and thinks she knows her own feelings and what will make her happy but she is deeply deceived.

made it halfway but dropped. The narrator was horrendous; the story was mildly interesting but super, super cliched. This story will keep repeating forever, won't it
