Matt Harris is on page 120 of 262 of Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Under-Rated Organ
One of the most mindblowing books I've read for ages. Always had respect for the gastro-intestinal tract but learning lots - e.g. sufferers of IBS are more at risk for anxiety/depression. Eat more fibre, take care of your gut.

Matt Harris is on page 180 of The Wayward Tourist
This book was very slow to get going, but now that Twain has gone to Adelaide via train, it's suddenly very interesting! I know now why Adelaide was called City of Churches, and learned about the cleverness of the aboriginies, how they use fire to heal themselves of injuries. Twain's tone can be light as a feather or blunt as a hammer. Loved a good many parts of it.

Maybe this book begins after page one three one... Not feeling it, will come back to this when the time is more conducive and chaotic!

Classic Alan Moore! Colourful, rooted in myth and olde worlde literature, but oh so post-millenial and rambunctious.

Matt Harris is on page 60 of 107 of After The Future: Australia's New Extinction Crisis (Quarterly Essay #48)
Tim Flannery's ANGRY, people. He's angry about our nation's abject failure at keeping endangered species, particularly mammals, from dropping out of existence. Imagine, future generations will never be able to encounter in the wild, the Leadbetter's Possum. Despite it being Victoria's state emblem..

Matt Harris is finished with Great Expectations: Government, Entitlement and an Angry Nation (Quarterly Essay #46)
An excellent summary of why Australians have an entitlement issue with government - where did it come from, why is it here, and why is the current level of expectation for services and safety unsustainable given the current levels of taxation. Decision time! Probably the only book on politics I've read in years.

Matt Harris is on page 80 of 125 of Us and Them: On the Importance of Animals (Quarterly Essay #45)
A theme that is going to knock at the door of our collective consciousness until we realise animals bred for food deserve care, humane treatment, just as we would expect for our domestic animals.

You know, I really don't want this joy to end. Like reading Shakespeare with perfect meter and rhyme, and endless inventiveness. Thank Mephistopheles I have part 2 in the bookshelf ready to rumble...
