Hard going but worth it. Excoriating and persuasive account of the development of the Turkish deep state and its impact on the country's democracy, even through the investment patterns of the police pension scheme. Written long before Julys failed coup and gives the summers events in Turkey a whole new depth of meaning. Heavy on sociological theory but well worth reading for any student of modern turkish history.
