This book was frequently mentioned to me by city guides in both Belfast and Derry (Northern Ireland) as the best book they had read that described 'The Troubles', and a horrorifying kidnapping that was unresolved for years. Jean McConnell, a widowed mother of 10 was kidnapped in front of her children in1978 - she was 38. She was murdered upon the order of Gerry Adams (though he denies any knowledge).
