I was binge reading this on a plane (such a good story, Juliet Marillier never fails to deliver), trying to race through before my battery died. Of course, it died on 81%. Now that I have power (and severe jet lag), figure I might as well finish the book before trying sleep.

The ONLY reason I'm still reading is that I'm hoping for some crazy twist. Like, is Katherine actively involved in the murders? Is she the true Valentine and everything is actually all in her head? Are Evelyn's suspicions of Katherine truly justified? Will Marcus, the FBI agent, EVER contribute meaningfully to the case?

Because nothing otherwise will salvage this book from a two-star rating. Bleh.
