This book is so hyped up, yet I’m struggling to stay on track whilst it jumps from person to person throughout the years of the two disappearances.

I understand the comparison between the curious incident of the nighttime, but I feel they are incomparable.

The Brummy narrative is very comforting — some laugh out loud moments.

At this point in the year, I need quick easy reads if I have any chance of reaching my reading goal.

A book with characters like these and the time span Clark is covering needs to be much longer. It’s using chapters to switch back and forth between the two women — which is a technique I usually love — but the character study is surface level with huge hints at a twist or reveal to come that feel forced.

I’m so invested. I want so desperately for this to have a happy ending, otherwise the quote “It always rains the hardest on the people who deserve the sun” comes to mind.

Not loving this as much as I’d hoped. Flatshare left me with high expectations.

Audio narration is annoying - inconsistent British accents for Korean characters.

Not sure how I feel about this — but maybe it’s just the narration.

Easy enough read, but not my favourite novel of his so far. Main character seems a bit stiff and his interaction with his love interest feels quite staged and under developed.

Much like The Great Alone this book is about grit, perseverance and survival. It’s a real privilege check.

Beautifully heartbreaking. The relationship between mother and daughter is difficult to bear as you get perspectives from both parties. Also hard to read when someone believes something is fundamentally wrong with them / they are dysfunctional because of childhood-trauma.

Wonderfully captivating, as expected. Ishiguro fans won’t be disappointed.
