Nothing will ever be the Neapolitan novels. That being said…the way she can write a book filled with the void, angry, crazy, consumed, distracted, broken-attempted, insane, grounded we manage when we are abandoned is just not to be matched. I’m just enthralled with her capacity.

The story is okay. I understand why it is liked. However, at this point I’m only not DNFing it because it’s reasonably quick to get through. I am finding the characters not written authentically and all of them I have no empathy for. The writing style is so stilted and jarring so that I often have to re-read sections to connect pieces that should be knit together better.

Matt Ridley is approaching a subject I have always had an interest in and doesn't seem to come up frequently. However, he makes statements that require considerations of networking variables but makes them seem as though they can be reduced to a point. He began with what I considered an overuse of quotations, and now where they could exist comfortably he does not (i.e. men do not choose their genes). Zog=unnecessary

Another chapter book with Abi! She loves this one and we can have conversations of the importance of equality and respect, to name a couple. The dates are a little bland for her, not having too much meaning for a 6 year old, but she devours it all! :) Very happy to have this time with her. Took two days for us to get through 91 pages.
