I kinda got this due to some completist tendency, but I am having a real-deal Russo experience. It's been awhile.

I feel like I'm somebody from North Bath and because I'm not a main character that means that something AWFUL is gonna happen to me that will look funny as hell from just a few steps away. Like my front tooth is gonna fall out of my mouth and bounce into some lady's purse. AT BEST.

if you knew that i got nothing from The Marriage Plot, get nothing whatsoever from franzen et. Al, would you steer me away from this thing?

i have been tired never wasnt tired of the ambivalent professor and the shape-shifter student shit. remember that awful francine prose novel? blue angel? well, i guess i do and all the others. if you aren't richard russo, then just dont.

it is a known fact that if anyone had even suggested i read this novel when i was a kid, i would have called child services...i mean--a boy in breeches? revolutionary boston? paul fucking revere?!

the clunky moments are piling up, and i think i just like the pictures. i probably wouldnt let plum sykes or somebody get away with this.
