Is this becoming a new Abbey classic? I’m overwhelmed by how much I love this book.

Oh boy I want to shelf this but I spent money on the book and now feel like I have to finish it. This is Booktok fantasy at its worst.

Abbey Barthauer is on page 75 of 308 of A Year of Biblical Womanhood
“Those who seek biblical womanhood have forgotten the dark stories- We may not have a ceremony through which to grieve them, but it is our responsibility as women of faith to guard the dark stories for our own daughters, and when they are old enough, to hold their faces between our hands and make them promise to remember.”
YES. YES. YES.

Abbey Barthauer is on page 228 of 293 of The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism
“God did not create us to get the cosmic, infinite joy of mutual love and glorification, but to share it. We were made to join in on the dance. If we will center our lives on him, serving him not out of self-interest, but just for the sake of who he is, for the sake of his beauty and glory, we will enter the dance and share in the joy and love he lives in.”

Abbey Barthauer is on page 212 of 352 of Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances
I finished the second short story in the book; this one by John Green. I can’t tell if I still like eccentric characters who have witty banter that most 15 year olds couldn’t keep up with if they tried, or if it’s mildly annoying.

I’ve read one of Maureen Johnson’s novels and wasn’t equally impressed as I was with her short story. It was quirky, and ridiculous (in a good way), and makes me excited to continue with the next two authors.

“All you can be is in love. And I wanted to tell him that even though I’d never been in love, I knew what it was like to be in a feeling, to not just be surrounded by it but also permeated by it, the way my grandmother talked about God being everywhere.”

"These days I want to love deeply and well, and that's really different from pleasing. Love is often quieter, and it's never connected to that anxious proving and tap-dancing that so many of us have learned to keep people happy."

For some reason I'm dragging through this sequel, which is surprising. I remember not being able to put the first book in the series down.

Abbey Barthauer is on page 53 of 160 of Simple Spirituality: Learning to See God in a Broken World
It is in our intimate relationships with people who are poor, or more accurately our friends who happen to be poor, that our tainted views of God are transformed. It is our intimate relationships with our friends on the streets or in red-light districts that open our blinded eyes to really see Jesus for who he is.
