What... what am I reading? 🤨😯😳🤣

I've figured out why I'm struggling to enjoy Wolf and Cymbra's relationship (not the book itself, which is so beautifully written). It's that theirs is a power dynamic blatantly weighted in Wolf's favor. It makes sense for the time, but it's still grating to read about a woman whose power is only as great as her husband allows it to be. Recognizing what's bugging me will help me enjoy the story more now, I think.

Such a sad thing for me, as I adore Rexanne Becnel. I have to admit, though, that this is the first of her stories that hasn't managed to persuade me to believe in the OTP. Isolde and Rhys are both good characters and I could see their potential together at the beginning, but their romance here just doesn't win my heart over. So far. Perhaps they can pull it off in the end...

Bicycle. BAHAHAHAHA!

Part II was definitely better, more organized. It was still weak writing for Samantha Shannon, though. Hmm.

Omg, what a fabulous cast of characters!
