So far, this reads like a pulp novel. Nice.

Although I understand the need to give backstory, one gets to a point where they exclaim: "get on with the $&$@ story already!" The placement of flashback scenes, while plausible to a degree, interrupts the flow of action. This leaves the reader confused, irritated, and losing interest fast. I was tempted to give up on this, but have resolved to see it through.

I really like the idea of the second bridegroom but as beautiful as the author's writing is, it gets tedious.
