This already belongs in the r/MenWritingWomen Hall of Fame, and whatever the Bad Fictional Science equivalent is...but I'm along for the ride.

Serious slog compared to the first book. No female characters and all the men are dry or pathetic. What the hell happened the characters or plot points from the first book? I think Liu is hoping we all magically forget so as to advance his plot. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised in the second half but so far it feels like we all just have to accept that the plot is happening without any thoughts as to why...

Ooof.
Is there even a single original idea in this book??
