This was my first Lovecraft tale. I think it will take some time to get used to his writing style and his sometimes-extensive vocabulary, but I enjoy his ability to build suspense.
It was about a man addicted to morphine about to commit suicide who recounts the tale of his time adrift at sea, where he encounters a land of black waste and discovers an ancient monolith and sea monster it describes.
