Honestly I had been hoping that this book would be entirely over the top and full of prejudice so that I could write it off and go on with our relaxed approach to meat consumption and more importantly,where we source our meat. Unfortunately it looks like I am going to be very badly disappointed. Safran appears to be delivering a well informed, balanced, thought provoking book. So far I'm hooked.

Uh oh, I'm hooked on a YA book, mind numbing and wonderful at the same time :p

I'm reading this for book club. When I realised that it is loosely based around a Jewish biblical story I was instantly turned off... By the second chapter I was ready to abandon ship... But as I persevere I am grateful that I know little to nothing of the bible and am able to enjoy the story for the fictional work that it is and am quite engrossed.

I find myself rolling my eyes more often than I would usually tolerate but I remain intrigued enough to persevere. Luckily its a fast and easy read.

I started this book yesterday. It's just one of those "lovely reads" that draws you in but is uncomplicated and can be read whilst supervising the kids in the garden or making breakfast.

Onto my second reading. This book is so dynamic that you miss too much the first time round. I love it. "The bogus religiosity which now surrounds original works of art, and which is ultimately dependent upon their market value, has become the substitute for what paintings lost when the camera made them reproducible."

Have had to skip the sickening repertoire of Peter Maxwell.. I understand that it is the authors intention to illustrate him as insensitive dick but little effort has been put into making it believable and it has just become insulting and annoying.

If I have to read one more segment from the character of Peter Maxwel I may just burn this book and dance on it's ashes. PAINNNNNFUL!!!!!

Increasingly bored and frustrated with this book. Only continuing to read the rest because it has been so highly recommended by several others but so far the last 1/4 of the book has been uneventful, repetitive and unrealistic and the characters I was initially interested in are mentioned few and far between.
