I got about halfway through and had to put it down. I'm a fan of artfully broken rules (fragments, comma splices, etc), but the fragment here didn't work for me, and the writing itself felt too overwrought. Perhaps I'm in the wrong mindset for the book, so I'll come back to it eventually and see if I have a better appreciation for it.

Homework has taken me away from my pleasure reading, so I'm dreadfully behind.

If this were a library book and not something I paid full price for (albeit with my Xmas money), I'd send it back.

So far this book is more exposition than actual story. I don't feel emotionally attached to the main character enough to care about what happens. And the author seems to be allergic to paragraph breaks. Page-long walls of text are a bore to slog through if you're not invested in a book.
